In a bid to support students amidst challenging circumstances, the 19 Assam Rifles Battalion organized a significant distribution function yesterday at the L. Hengjol Community Education Centre in Kangpokpi district.

Led by Col. Karan Sandhu, Comandant. 19 Assam Rifles, the event saw the distribution of more than 250 sets of textbooks spanning from Class 1 to X, alongside the provision of two computer sets with printers.

Acknowledging the hurdles faced by students, Col. Sandhu stressed the importance of access to educational resources, stating, “It is our responsibility to empower young minds and enable them to reach new heights of potential.”

The distribution function garnered widespread participation from various stakeholders, including the Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills, KSO Moltam Block, Kuki Women Union, village chiefs, villagers, and students.

AR1Lalboi Haokip, President of KSO Moltam Block, expressed heartfelt gratitude to 19 Assam Rifles, noting that their support has made an indelible mark on the community’s educational landscape.

The event concluded on a note of solidarity and appreciation, with attendees rallying behind the slogan, “Long live 19 Assam Rifles, Long live Indian Army.” As the distributed educational materials find their way into the hands of eager learners, the initiative promises to leave a lasting legacy of empowerment and educational advancement in the region.

It’s worth mentioning that the Community Education Centre was established by various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Moltam Block to address the educational requirements of students following ethnic unrest that rendered many institutions inoperative.

The education sector has particularly suffered due to the prolonged conflict. Consequently, KSOs in different districts have established community schools or centers to ensure ongoing education for students affected by war. KSO Churachandpur, KSO Sangaikot, and KSO Gunpi Block have similarly established community education centers in their respective regions.
