By THJ Desk — On May 30, 2023

Ahead of the Union Home Minister's visit to Kangpokpi tomorrow, the people of the district are hectically engaged to welcome the Minister at Kangpokpi District Headquarters today.

While displaying their faith in the Constitution of India, the people of Kangpokpi hoisted the National Flag at Brig. M. Thomas ground at Kangpokpi town where the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, is expected to land on his arrival in the district.

The youths are also seen putting up the tricolor all along the roadside as well, while a myriad of banners was also seen hoarding up greeting the Union Home Minister.

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to land at Kangpokpi town at around 1:00 pm tomorrow afternoon where various prominent civil society organizations and Kuki leaders are expected to meet him.

Speaking to the media, the Spokesperson of the Committee on Tribals Unity, Sadar Hills, Rev. K. Sitlhou said that we are in such a situation where survival matters, so, we need Constitutional protection and we are expecting or have high hope from Union Home Minister that the tripartite talks with the UPF and KNO and the Governments will soon culminate with a solution.

"That's our only hope for our Constitutional protection", he asserted.

Talking about the agendas the committee would put up with the visiting Home Minister, Sitlhou said that the ground reality of the violence with numerous evidence has already been submitted to various central agencies and I believe all the evidence submitted is enough for the Union Home Minister to judge or know as to who is wrong or right.

He then said that as all the evidence might have come to the knowledge of the Union Home Minister, I strongly believe that the long cries and agonies of the Kuki people will be addressed with a permanent solution.

Meanwhile, a young girl who is enthusiastically participating in putting up the National Flag along the roadside said I am excitedly taking part to welcome our Union Home Minister as I truly believe that will bring a solution we are sincerely waiting for.

Meanwhile, another civil society organization leader said that while we are preparing to welcome the Union Home Minister we reminded him that this part of the country needs his protection.

"Please listen to our cry as we remind ourselves that under the flattering tricolor, we shall be protected, and our cry will be heard and just prevail", he said.

He said that we expect our Home Minister to acknowledge that there is physical and social separation already in Manipur while adding that we have high expectations that considering such separation, he will grant us a separate form of administration so that we may be able to protect ourselves under the Constitution of India and under the fluttering tricolor.
