Crisis in Manipur not war against Narco-terrorism but eventual culmination of seed of hatred, enmity sown by Chief Minister: KIM

By THJ Staff — On July 7, 2023

The Kuki Inpi Manipur(KIM) has made it cleared that the ongoing crisis in Manipur was not a war against 'narco-terrorism' but an eventual culmination of seed of hatred and enmity that has been orchestrated and perpetrated since a long time by the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, through his communal agendas and propagandas against the Kuki community.

In its press release issued on Thursday, KIM alleged that It was neither a war against SoO (Suspension of Operation) insurgent groups nor a war against illegal immigrants as desperately described by the Meiteis and their leaders in the media, but rather a targeted, pre-planned ethnic cleansing against the minority Kuki community.

KIM made it clear the fact that the ongoing crisis was orchestrated and perpetrated under the nose of the incumbent Chief Minister, N.Biren Singh.

The Kuki apex body claimed that the ongoing crisis was a monstrous attempt for complete annihilation of the Kukis, who are true citizens of the country, by secessionist Meitei terrorist groups, sponsored by the Meitei state government (Manipur) and supported by manipulated Meitei populace.

"KIM made a stance that the ongoing crisis is orchestrated and perpetrated under the nose of the incumbent chief minister N.Biren Singh," it said.

KIM refuted the allegation with regard to the incessant mention of "war against narco-terrorism" that has taken shape in the open declaration of war against narco-terrorists by the Coordination Committe on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and the subsequent support by various sections of the Meitei society at large

"If the ongoing crisis is a war against narco-terrorism as brazenly declared, COCOMI and its support groups must be called to answer why the Kuki settlements in Imphal region were ruthlessly attacked on the night of 3rd May, 2023, with almost a hundred people killed overnight, and a hundred houses torched to the ground," KIM said.

The Kuki body also demanded that COCOMI must justify the "narco- terrorists" charge it laid against all the Kukis that ultimately led to the attacking of the Kukis and their properties in the valley and as well as in the peripheral regions.

The  Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) reiterated its firm stance that the ongoing crisis in Manipur was an ethnic strife, a pre-planned ethnic cleansing against the minority Kuki community perpetrated by the majority Meiteis and strictly opposed to the changing narratives as a war between Manipur Government and SoO groups or a war between Manipur Government and Illegal Immigrants.

KIM stated that it would stand tooth and nail against any false and fabricated narratives which attempted to hide the hand behind such unprecedented scale of violence and unrest in the region. It also stood against the deliberate attempt to paint the oppressed Kuki community as the oppressors through the use of power and influence.
