Miscreants reportedly stole CCTV machine, digital video recorder, football boots, TV, ceiling fan from the office of Southern Sporting Union(SSU) near Singjamei Police Station at Kakwa, Imphal West, during the last ten days.
As per the cub officials, they were aware of the crime after its members visited the office on July 9.
Briefing the media regarding the incident at its office Kakwa on Thursday, the President of SSU, Robin Blackei, said the incident was unfortunate since the properties of the club had been looted at times when the people of the State have been worrying about the prevailing situation of the State.
Robin informed that the club’s office had been closed since the beginning of May owing to the prevailing situation of the State. However, taking opportunity of the situation, miscreants have stolen different items of the club, he said.
Stating that such act will dishearten the sportsperson of the State, Robin informed that SSU was established in the year 1961 and the club had been one of the best football clubs in the State and many of its players have been playing in other major clubs of the country and its players even represented the State in the national level.
Robin also informed that SSU might be the only club in the State which has never been relegated to lower division league since its formation. The club is four time champion of the CC Meet and had also won several trophies in Assam and Manipur, he added
The SSU president further said that the club has registered an FIR at Singjamei Police Station and also appealed to the police to take necessary actions and the public to help in finding the culprits.
