Though not happy with the Parliamentary speech of the Union Home Minister, the Committee on Tribal Unity Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District decided to celebrate the Independence Day with the Kuki-Zo volunteers in the grandest manner.

According to the CoTU, the grand celebration will be held under the aegis of its Defence Department where all other departments under CoTU and the Kuki-Zo people will take part in the celebration of the national event.

CoTU Media Cell member, Janghaolun Haokip said that the Committee on Tribal Unity has decided to join the nation in the celebration of India’s Independence Day tomorrow.

He then appealed to the Kuki-Zo people to join the celebration to be organized under the aegis of CoTU’s Defence Department.

Following its decision to celebrate Independence Day, CoTU also put up the tricolors inside and outside of its office at Brig. M. Thomas ground and also in their vehicles.

The tricolors are also seen fluttering along the National Highway in Kangpokpi town as the Kuki-Zo youths put up the national flag alongside the national highway though there was a mixed response in putting up the tricolors from citizens of the town owing to the Home Minister’s recent remark in Parliament.
