Arrested persons in Moreh are innocent civilians: UKLF

United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has clarified that none of its cadres had been arrested even though a few media reports stated that some cadres were arrested in a combing operation by Police commandos.

In a statement on Saturday, UKLF stated that none of the arrested individuals are cadres of the front and all those who were arrested have no relation with the organisation.

"The arrested persons are in fact innocent civilians who live a difficult life by earning from day labourer," it said.

The organisation also stated that they have no involvement in the present crisis; and cautioned the state forces to stop torturing innocent civilian of Moreh hill town and stop tarnishing the image of the organisation when the cadres are constantly in the designation camp following SoO ground rules.

The combined security forces on Saturday reportedly detained seven persons in Moreh. The detainees are identified as Nehtinngam Lupho (55), Jangkhohao Lupho (45), George Holkhosat khongsai (20), Letgoulen Doungel (25), Jangkhohao Haokip (34), Nehginmang (27) and Jangkhomang Baite (21).
