Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum Declares Nine-Point Agenda for Kuki-Zo Movement's Way Forward

Nine key points were declared during the 5th Public Consultation organized by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), held at EBC Gospel Centenary Hall in New Lamka. The theme of the consultation was 'Way Forward for Our Movement,' and it saw the participation of various Kuki-Zo CSO leaders and the public from different walks of life.

The declarations encompass approaching the Mizoram government for the future political path of Kuki Zo, expressing objection to scrapping of Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing, committing to agitations and actions as needed, supporting ITLF's plans, projects, and policies, and affirming that Kuki-Zo cannot be under a government involved in violence and destruction. It was proposed that the Central government directly administer Kuki-Zo from Delhi.

The declaration also emphasized not signing the Suspension of Operations (SoO) for the integrity of Manipur and standing firm on Kuki-Zo's demand for Union Territory with legislature. To address future political movements, a meeting between SoO groups and Kuki-Zo MLAs under the initiative of Zo United was suggested.

The gathering concurred that the Ministry of Home Affairs should be questioned about the status of Kuki-Zo's political demand through joint signatures of SoO, MLAs, and CSOs. Additionally, Kuki Zo MLAs were urged to work in alignment with the people's wishes, counter the Biren government in favor of Kuki-Zo, and be prepared to resign if necessary.

Representatives from various organizations, including the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, Kuki Inpi Manipur, Hill Tribe Council Moreh, Zo United, and others, were given the opportunity to share their ideas during the consultation. The nine-point declaration took into account suggestions and feedback from leaders and attendees.
