The chief minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh has declared that all schools and colleges will remain closed on May 6 and May 7 due to the prevailing weather conditions in the state.
The chief minister made the announcement through his official social media account in facebook on Sunday night.
Biren stated that the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the risks posed by the current weather conditions.
The chief minister urges all to stay updated and remain safe indoors. He added that the state government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives and properties and assist those who have been affected.
The director of education(S) L. Nandakumar Singh also issued an order stating that ' in view of the widespread destruction caused to many households and installations across the State due to the hailstorm today and in anticipation of the same in the following days and keeping in mind the safety of the students of of the State, all schools of the state(government, government aided, private and central schools) will be closed on May 6 and 7'.
