A pivotal moment for the Kuki-Zo community occurred today with the official formation of the Kuki-Zo Council, marking a significant step toward unity and representation in the face of ongoing ethnic conflict with the Meitei community. The council's inaugural meeting resulted in the election of five key executive members tasked with leading the community through these challenging times.

Henlianthang Thanglet has been elected as the Chairman of the Kuki-Zo Council, with Thangzamang serving as Secretary. Rev. Dr. GS Gangte assumes the role of Treasurer, Khaikhohauh Gangte will act as Information Secretary, and Ch. Ajang Khongsai has been named Chief of the Governing Council.

The Kuki-Zo Council aims to create a unified platform for addressing critical political issues and advancing the collective interests of the Kuki-Zo people. Comprising representatives from various Kuki-Zo tribes, councils, and Inpis, the council is positioned as the highest decision-making body for the community.

With a commitment to promoting unity, upholding traditional values, and enhancing the overall well-being of the Kuki-Zo people, the council will also strengthen their political voice on both local and national levels. Each Inpi and tribe president will serve as a governing council member, alongside an executive committee featuring two representatives from each tribe and Inpi organization.

The establishment of the Kuki-Zo Council is seen as a crucial step toward fostering dialogue and advocacy, ensuring that the voices of the Kuki-Zo people are heard and represented effectively.

The newly elected leaders and representatives from all tribes and Inpis were present at the meeting, underscoring a collective commitment to working together for a brighter future for the Kuki-Zo community.
