Tribal Youth Council Manipur Locks Tribal Research Institute Office in Imphal

The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, locked the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) office on Wednesday evening.

According to the council, the office was locked due to the authorities' disregard for the appeal to ensure the office functions effectively.

A release issued by the council on Wednesday claimed that the Director and the Administrative Officer-cum-Research Officer had also failed to physically attend the office.

At the time of the visit by TYCM-GHQ volunteers on Wednesday, the TRI office was found closed during office hours at 2:57 PM, the release added.

The release further stated that the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, had previously submitted a notice to the Director of the Tribal Research Institute (TRI), requesting the resumption of normal operations at the TRI office in Chingmeirong, Imphal, starting from 15th January 2025.

The council also stated that failure to resume the functioning of the office would result in the government and concerned authorities being held solely responsible for any untoward incidents that may occur thereafter.

The release concluded by stating that when the Tribal Research Institute (TRI) office is weakened and there is a shortage of manpower, it directly affects the tribal communities in Manipur, causing delays in developmental progress.
