FOOTGAL 3.0 Concludes with a Grand Celebration in Churachandpur

This event not only celebrated the success of the BBBP initiative but also showcased the talents and potential of young women athletes in the region.

FOOTGAL 3.0, an initiative by the Churachandpur District Administration aimed at raising awareness and advocating for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, as well as promoting inclusive elections, concluded tonight at the JP Leisure Centre in Bungmual.

The grand closing ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Dharun Kumar S, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, who served as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Khaikhomang Tonsing, Chief of Pearsonmun, Maj. Yadu Krishna from the 37 Assam Rifles, various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), District Level Officers, and a large gathering of the general public and students.

The event featured a remarkable presentation of the BBBP Anthem by local artists, along with captivating choreography and traditional dance performances. A pledge-taking ceremony led by Thangboi Gangte, ADC, was also a highlight of the evening.

In his address, Dharun Kumar S praised the achievements of the BBBP initiative over the past decade, highlighting improvements in sex ratio, women's safety, and educational rights. He quoted, “When the dignity of women rises, the world also rises,” and encouraged district level officers and society leaders to further uplift the dignity of women. He also urged parents to support the continued education of their daughters post-graduation and expressed his hope for Churachandpur to become a model district in North East India for women's rights and dignity.

The tournament concluded with Ms. Chingbiaklawm of Sports Outreach (SOII) being named Best Player, Ms. Nemkichoi Haokip of PLL (Girls) as Top Scorer, and Ms. Thempi of The Chosen Team as Best Keeper. Team ZEO was awarded the Fair Play Team award. The Chosen Team emerged as champions of the tournament, with SOII as runners-up and PLL (Girls) securing third place. The tournament featured a total of 22 teams.
