The Thadou Youth Association General Headquarters (TYA-GHQ), a key unit of the Thadou Inpi General Headquarters, has issued a press statement condemning the actions of state and central government forces on March 8, 2025. The incident resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Lalgouthang Singsit, from Keithelmanbi Sadar Hills, and left over 40 women injured.

The association decried the ongoing violence against the Kuki-Zo community, which has faced severe repercussions since the ethnic cleansing campaign that began on May 3, 2023. Despite the creation of a “Buffer Zone” by the Union Home Minister, which was intended to provide protection, the community has endured significant losses. The TYA emphasized that the Kuki-Zo people had remained peaceful, refraining from crossing the Buffer Zone to avoid further conflict.

The association expressed its disapproval of the authorities' plans to enforce arbitrary measures that it believes undermine the Kuki-Zo community’s rightful demands. The government’s actions, according to the TYA, are an attempt to coerce the people into reopening broken communication channels after 22 months of separation. The TYA criticized these actions as attempts to suppress the Kuki-Zo community’s struggle for justice and freedom, portraying them as part of a broader effort to impose the majoritarian will of the ruling state and central governments.

In response to these events, the TYA has fully endorsed an indefinite shutdown called by the Kuki-Zo Council, which began on March 8, 2025. The TYA reaffirmed its unwavering determination to fight for the rights and freedoms of the Kuki-Zo people, declaring that their struggle will continue until justice is served.

The association concluded by stating its commitment to the fight for justice, asserting that the Kuki-Zo community would persist in its demands for freedom and justice on their ancestral land, despite the ongoing suppression by the government.
