The Naga Army of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has denied any involvement in the recent arson attacks on Gampal and Haijang villages under Kamjong district, which occurred on April 23.

The General Headquarters of the NSCN-IM issued a statement on Thursday, expressing concern over the incident and stating that the spate of violence in Manipur has been gradually spreading toward the eastern region of the state, bordering Myanmar.

The NSCN described the recent arson attacks on the residents of Gampal and Haijang villages by unknown miscreants as "lamentable."

“In this connection, the wild speculations circulating on social media, suspecting the involvement of the NSCN, stand outrightly condemned. It is hereby clarified that the Naga Army has no involvement in the unfortunate incident,” the statement added.

The Naga Army also advised all concerned not to be misled by such malicious disinformation and cautioned that the conspiracy surrounding the incident would be exposed sooner or later.

“We believe in the high ideals of truth, justice, and peace, and we shall continue to work for the welfare and security of all communities living in Nagalim, without any prejudice,” the release concluded.
