The All Assam Manipuri Youth's Association (AAMYA) has set June 22 as deadline for the Mizoram National Front (MNF) and its Government to withdraw their support for the separate administration for the Chin-Kuki-Zo people in Manipur.

AAMYA warned that an indefinite economic blockade along national highway 54 connecting Assam and Mizoram through Lailapur, cachar district, be imposed from June 23 if the Mizoram government fails to withdraw its support for the cause of Separate Administration.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the AAMYA stated that they were very much irked by the response of the MNF justifying their absurd stand of supporting the demand for the separate administrative structure for the Chin-Kuki-Zo people in Manipur. It stated that the demand which would invoke Article 3 of Indian Constitution was not relevant in the context of Manipur which has a boundary recognized by the International Community even before Manipur merged with India on the 21st of September 1949.

While appreciating the statement of the Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga, in his tweet, that supports the steps taken by the Govt. of Manipur and the central Government with respect to Manipur, AAMYA still insisted that MNF should publicly announce its withdrawal of support for the separate administration for the Chin-Kuki-Zo people in Manipur in the larger interest of peace in the region.

In any arrangement of peace and dialogue, MNF and the government of Mizoram must not go against the integrity of Manipur, it stated.

The Manipuri Youth in Assam also sought clarification from the government of Mizoram whether the statement of Zoramthanga, which is supportive of steps taken by the government of Manipur and the central government, means its withdrawal of support for the separate administration.

AAMYA warned that if MNF does not clarify on or before the said date, it would take the statement of CM Zoramthanga as a ploy to sabotage AAMYA's plans and hence AAMYA would move on with its own resolution of indefinite economic blockade.
