THE HILLS JOURNAL is a non-profit citizens watchdog of the news media which believes in "public enlightenment" as the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democratic principles. It strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough; acts with integrity, and giving voice to the voiceless. Will adhere to the journalistic values of honesty, humanity, courage, impartiality, independence, credibility, truth, fairness and accountability, giving no priority to commercial or political considerations over professional journalism. Will endeavour to get the truth, critique botched and bungled news stories and set the record straight on important issues that have received slanted coverage. Will treat our readers with due respect and address every issue or story with due attention to present a clear, accurate and factual picture while giving full consideration and sensitivity towards women, juvenile, feelings of the victims of crime, war, etc., their relatives, and to individual privacy and public decorum. Will present diverse points of views and opinions without bias or partiality. Recognise diversity in human societies with all their races, religions, cultures, beliefs and faith in order to present unbiased and faithful reflection on them. Acknowledges a mistake when it occurs, promptly correct it and ensure it does not recur. Will Distinguish between news materials, opinions and analysis in order to avoid pitfalls of speculation and propaganda.
