The All Assam Manipuri Youth's Association (AAMYA) has withdrawn its proposed economic blockade along National Highway-54, connecting Assam with the State of Mizoram, which was to begin from June 23
The decision to withdraw the blockade came as a result of special requests made by different intellectuals of Manipuri society in Assam, stated a press release issued by AMMYA on Monday
It stated that the decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the central committee of AAMYA in presence of the chief advisor, president and general secretary on Monday
Stating that it would proceed in a democratic way to deal with the issue of separate administration for Chin-Kuki group in Manipur in the future, AAMYA further stated that it will discuss various matters relating to any issue with the state administration in future.
It may be mentioned that AMMYA on Sunday had warned of imposing economic blockade along National Highway-54 if the Mizoram government or Mizoram National Front (MNF) fails to withdraw its support for separate administration for the Chin Kuki Zo people in Manipur.
