An Astroturf Mini Stadium, LHS Arena, was inaugurated Wednesday at Kangpokpi district headquarters. LHS Arena, the Astroturf Mini Stadium, is a unit of Lighthouse School, Kangpokpi.
The chief executive officer of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi, James Doujapao Haokip, graced the inaugural ceremony of the 300-seating capacity Astroturf mini stadium as chief guest while Reverend Siehpao Hangshing, Kangpokpi Independent Baptist Church attended as the inaugural minister.
James Doujapao Haokip, after formally inaugurating the LHS Arena, said that extracurricular activities have become very important in this highly competitive world for the student community.
The officer while appreciating the school authority of Lighthouse School in establishing the LHS Arena also said that the Astroturf Mini Stadium will not benefit the student community but it will also become another asset of the town.
The school founder, Phakim Misao made an offering before Reverend Siehpao Hangshing dedicated the Astroturf Mini Stadium.
Sehminthang Dennis Misao, secretary of the school said that the primary beneficiaries of LHS Arena, Astroturf Mini Stadium will be the school children while adding that it is also an opportunity for the employed youths of the town to get employment.
He continued the Astroturf Mini Stadium will also benefit the public and any income generated from it will be put back into the school.
The school secretary further said that sport is also a form of discipline and I hope the Astroturf Mini Stadium will produce many more men and women of character of discipline and impart the value of teamwork and hard work, especially among the students.
The Astroturf Mini Stadium is an all-weather 24x7 playing surface certified as FIFA Quality Pro Accessories by the world football governing body, FIFA.
It has an Aero X FIFA Pro synthetic surface with 4000W floodlights, a lounge, a premium dressing room, hot and cold showers, and a world-class playing experience.
The principal of the school, Veijakim Misao while appreciating and extending gratitude to all who contribute to the successful installation and establishment of the Astroturf Mini Stadium, handed out a presentation as a token of love to the guests and donors, and contributors.
Choreography/drill, cultural dance from the school students and alumni, and the thrilling football match between the school teachers and parents marked the occasion.
