At least three armed men reportedly died and several others were injured in fresh violence in Kangpokpi district today.

Armed miscreants, in a fresh case of violence, unleashed sporadic gunfire upon the residents of Twichin and Phaimol, two neighbouring villages in Kangpokpi District despite security forces have begun combing operations to recover looted weapons in the state.

Speaking over the phone, one of the residents of Twichin village said that the armed miscreants advanced toward the village when the Kuki-Zo village volunteers chose not to respond to their provocation around 8:30 a.m. this morning.

He continued that the central security forces deployed in the buffer zone managed to deter the armed miscreants from advancing further toward the villages when the armed groups resorted to firing upon the villages in an attempt to provoke the Kuki-Zo village volunteers.

He also said that the armed groups, however, made their second attack at around 2:45 p.m. and the third attack at around 3:28 p.m. while adding that despite their sporadic attacks there was no casualty on our side.

It was also reported that seven sophisticated guns and four Gypsy belonging to the armed miscreants were recovered by the security forces.

A leaked message written in the Manipuri language was widely viral on social media this afternoon.

The message read, "Meitei gi ahum sokay houjik. Saijang da Army na Meitei gi Defense force fanaba prepare touraga leikhre. Ask Meitei volunteers not to come. I am at Sabungkhok, the Jat Regiment na akhoi da warning piraga leire. Warning se WhatsApp group ta thagatkho bhai. Sabungkhok ABORT ABORT ABORT. 7 guns, 4 gypsy Army na fakhre".

Which means, three injured on Meitei side, Army is preparing to arrest the Meitei Defense force at Saijang, and ask Meitei volunteers not to come. I am at Sabungkhok, the Jat Regiment had warned us, pass on this warning message on the social media platforms, Sabungkhok ABORT ABORT ABORT, 7 guns, 4 gypsies had already been seized by the Army".

Meanwhile, the ITLF Media Cell claimed that the Imphal-based media outlets were poised to publish a ready-made news report blaming the Kuki-Zo volunteers for an alleged attack on the Meitei village which quickly spread attracting more armed miscreants with sophisticated weapons who headed towards Yainangpokpi.

The ITLF Media Cell also alleged that the Meira Paibis group in an attempt to ensure a safe passage for reinforcement obstructed the security forces at Sabungkhok until all the Meitei, arriving in approximately 30-40 vehicles from Imphal had passed through.

The Committee on Tribal Unity Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district vehemently condemned the fresh violence created alleged by the Meitei armed groups by sporadic firing at Twichin and Phaimol in Kangpokpi district.

The CoTU's Media Cell drew the attention of the central government to reimpose AFSPA in the nineteen police stations of the valley if it really wanted to stop violence in the state.

It also wondered as to why the Governments failed to control and stop the violence even after five months and asked if there was any hidden agenda over the mayhem in the state.

Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Manipur wondered that while the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the NIA to probe the Kuki-Zo militant groups, the Meitei terrorist groups kept on attacking Kuki-Zo villages while adding that the Meitei terrorists made a sporadic attack today at Twichin and Phaimol Kuki-Zo village.

It also stated that the whereabouts of more than 4,000 state arms handed over to the Meiteis is a question the MHA must ask now.

Moreover, the infiltration of banned meitei militant groups from Myanmar who have been involved in relentless attacks and conspiracy against the Indian Union should raise more serious concerns, it stated.

It also stated that the Central agencies and institutions must protect the soul of the Union of India, the Constitution, and the principles of justice at all costs.
