Violence in the form of attack, killing, and arson continues to be committed by the Meitei radical groups, Arambai Tenggol militants with the support of the state forces, Commando and Indian Reserve Battalion even if the Union Home Minister appealed for peace in the state till June 2.

Before the arrival of the Union Home Minister on his three days visit to the state on May 29 evening, many villages were attacked by the Meitei radical groups in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur district.

Even when the Union Home Minister had a meeting at Kangpokpi, many more Kuki villages in the foothills of Kangpokpi district were attacked and later burnt down.

Kuki villages under Saikul Sub Division in Kangpokpi District such as L. Chayang village (70 houses); S. Phailengkot village (72 houses); Chingdai Khullen village (47 houses); C. Zoulen village (35 houses); Thingjang village (30 houses); Lhanghoi village (15 houses), and Moljang village (3 houses) were completely burnt down to ashes allegedly by the Meitei radical groups, Arambai Tenggol militant with the state police commando and the IRB personnel on May 31.

One of the villagers of C. Zoulen said that thousand of Meira Paibis blocked the Gorkha Regiment who were stationed at UNACO School in Chanung and then the alleged Meitei radical groups Arambai Tenggol militant, and the state police commando and IRB personnel attacked the villages in Chingdai area from all corners.

Narrating his ordeals, he continued that during the attack, one person having a hearing problem was shot dead and later burnt.

Just before the visiting Union Home Minister left the state for Delhi on June 1 morning, the alleged Meitei radical groups, Arambai Tenggol militants and the state police commando and IRB personnel attacked two Kuki villages in Kangpokpi and Kamjong District killing two persons and injuring another two while burning down the two villages.

One of the escaped villagers of N. Mollen village under Yairipok Police Station in Island Sub Division of Kangpokpi district said that a large number of people around 400/500 with police commando and IRB personnel came to our village at around 4:30 am and attacked us.

During the attack two persons, namely, Thangkholun Haokip (30), son of Tongmang Haokip, and Jangminthang Haokip (25), son of Ngulkholun Haokip sustained a bullet injury, he added.

He also said that the attackers did not even bother to kill an aged person as they shot dead Deikim Simte (75), wife of (L) Lenchinthang Simte, and another man Jangminthang Kipgen (45), husband of Nengkhokim Kipgen.

The sad part, according to him, was the attackers throw the dead bodies of the two victims into the burning fire.

Then, they burnt down the village comprised of 50 houses.

Similarly, T. Natjang village which comprised of 30 houses under Kasom Khullen police station in Kamjong district was also burnt down today allegedly by the Meitei radical groups assisted by the state police commando and IRB personnel.

The most disturbing act of the Meitei radical groups in their attack was, they burnt whoever they killed during their attack, said one of the internally displaced persons while adding that they are not human beings.

Meanwhile, the Meitei radical groups continue their attack till Friday, June 2, despite the Union Home Minister's strong appeal to maintain peace.

It was reported that the Meitei radical group Arambai Tenggol militants in huge numbers allegedly assisted by the state police commando attacked N. Songlung and Bethel villages in Kangchup Geljang Sub Division in Kangpokpi district from early morning till around 7:00 pm late afternoon.

Many were reportedly inflicted by the attackers. However, the number of injured could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
