The peace call made by Manipur Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, has caught the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) in skepticism and disbelief.
In response to the Chief Minister's call for peace in an Interview with the Northeast Live on Tuesday, the Kuki apex body said how such merchant of death was transformed into an angel of peace overnight and what motivation or rather insidious agenda he had more was a matter of interest and concern for the Kukis, who are at the receiving end of his (N. Biren Singh) ethnic cleansing campaign.
In it press statement issued on Wednesday, KIM said ".... forgive and forget" are the exact words the chief agent of violence against the Kukis used in an interview to a TV channel. In order to forgive, some wrong must have been done and if the apology is sincere, forgiveness is a must. As Christians that is the code we live by. Just like Jesus Christ forgave our sins we too should show mercy, KIM stated.
Wondering if N. Biren Singh was hinting that he and his radicalized Meitei terrorists were committing something wrong by initiating the violence against the Kukis, the Kuki Inpi urged N. Biren Singh to stop giving hints and start asking forgiveness openly by admitting that it was him and his radicalized Meitei terrorists that is to be blamed for the current turmoil in Manipur. He must be sincere, the statement said.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur also said they were appalled by the frequent change in narratives by N. Biren Singh regarding his well-planned genocidal killings against the Kukis. He had earlier said that it was a war between 'Kuki terrorists' and the Manipur Government. He now changed the narrative by saying that it is a war between illegal immigrants and Manipur Government, Narco-Terrorist and so on.
KIM said, "Whichever way, he puts the blame on the Kukis and exposes his open dislike for them."
KIM asked Mr. N. Biren whether his adviser and MLA Mr. Vungzagin Valte, who is battling for life after being attacked by extremist Meitei mob, was a Kuki terrorist or an illegal immigrant or Narco-Terrorist.
Are the Meitei mobs and radical Meitei CSOs who attacked the Kukis and burnt their houses in the payroll of the Government of Manipur? Are those Meiteis CSOs who launched scathing attacks on Kukis verbally and physically paid by the Government?
KIM said Biren's sincere answer would determine who are at war.
KIM also said when the world already knew that it was an ethnic cleansing campaign against the Kukis by Meitei chauvinists, Mr. N. Biren utters otherwise. Although much damage has already been done particularly to the Kukis by Biren and his loyal CSOs, his (Biren's) sincerity will go a long way in rebuilding the strained and torn relationships between the Kukis and the Meiteis, KIM added.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur also pointed out that all essential commodities meant for the hills especially for Tengnoupal, Moreh and Churachandpur were waylaid and blocked at places under the Meitei control. This has proved beyond doubt that whatever promised for all displaced persons by the Central government would definitely be derailed and misuse to the detriment of the deserving people in the process, KIM stated.
