“Biren’s resignation drama a clear reminder that lawlessness is at its zenith in Manipur”

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has claimed that the resignation "drama' stage-managed by N. Biren Singh and his sidekicks in Imphal valley on Friday was a clear reminder that lawlessness is at its zenith in Manipur.

KIM issued a release on Saturday reacting to the resignation incident of N. Biren Singh, attacks on few Kuki-zo villages on June 29 and 30 and alleging the ‘Meitei media’ of misinformation.

The release stated that, “Although well-scripted and meticulously executed, yesterday's incident was a clear reminder that lawlessness is at its zenith in Manipur, besides proving beyond doubt the incompetency of Biren Singh”.

KIM claimed that law is in the hands of the street womenfolk and vigilantism is the hallmark of the day.

KIM is equally appalled at the high voltage resignation drama while Kukis came under attack in areas bordering the Imphal valley, it said and also vehemently condemned the continuous onslaught on Kuki villages by extremist Meitei forces.

In yet another offensive attack on Kuki villages such as L. Tangnuam, Munlai and Kangchup Bethel in Kangpokpi district by Meitei outlaw insurgent groups on 29 & 30th June, 2023 one police head constable namely Lenglam Dimngel, posted at Leimakhong P/S was on duty to identify the deceased was caught in the cross-fire at Tangnuam (Haraothel) and two village volunteers sustained injuries besides the burning down of many houses.

The release stated that KIM has time and again asked the Meitei militias and communal Manipur State forces to stop provocative attacks on Kuki –Zo villages and population. However, instead of paying heeds, their forces are strengthened now by valley-based insurgent groups coming out from Myanmar, and led the offensive attacks on Kuki-zo people at the front. KIM claimed that it will no longer remain a mere spectator of the attacks on its people.

KIM also informed the Kuki-Zo people particularly in the peripheral areas to stay alert, fortify their defense and stand their ground firm to face the marauding Meiteis.

The relentless pursuit of extremist COCOMI, who are directly involved in the genocidal killings against the Kukis, in spreading made-up accounts of the present crisis is not going to yield their intended results.

People all over the world are too well aware of the deprivation, suppression, subjugation and discrimination of the Kuki tribals in the hands of chauvinist Meiteis, KIM stated, adding that COCOMI's self- proclaimed peace effort is limited to spreading narratives full of lies, negativity which amounts to furtherance of hate campaigns against the Kuki community.

The embarrassment and frustration of COCOMI and other Meitei extremist organizations for their want of terminology or constructed 'cause of the present problem to cover up the State-sponsored ethnic cleansing campaign against the Kuki people is quite visible in their statements. Truth cannot be suppressed, but shall prevail.

The irresponsible Meitei media of Imphal including AIR Imphal are also advised to present facts instead of perceived 'fake' news and lies, KIM further advised that misinformation by the media is responsible to a large extent in escalating the present violence.

KIM also opined that presentation of unbiased news and views would certainly go a long way in bringing back normalcy.

The Central authority should take cognizance of all the facts and act immediately and accordingly and it should restore order and rein in those who took law in their hands.

Kuki people shall not be held responsible for any consequence due to the failure to control the activities of outlawed VBIGS and street vigilantes including womenfolk who are instigated by some political leaders and extremist outfits hand in glove with N. Biren Singh, KIM warned.
