A brave teenage girl after being physically and mentally assaulted escaped from the jaws of death in the current Manipur’s wide-scale violence among the two warring communities.

The story of the brave teenage girl came to light when the media cell@G-Care, Relief Centre Saparmeina exposed the bravery and ordeals of the girl.

Kim (name changed) was kidnapped on May 15 near an ATM Booth in Checkon, Imphal at around 5:30 pm by unknown miscreants in a white bolero and a purple Swift car.

The teenage girl said that she was forcefully dragged into the bolero and was seated in between two men in the middle seat while she saw another two men sitting in the front.

After kidnapping her, the miscreants in black cloth took her to Wangkhei Ayangpalli, where a mob including men and women assembled and started assaulting her physically.

Later, she was shifted by the kidnappers in the white bolero to Langol Hills where she was threatened to be killed if she resisted their commands.

She was then assaulted using the butt of a gun on her chest, the men also kicked her stomach and hit on her eyes with the butt of a pistol leaving a severe mark on her right eye.

According to the girl, she was further moved to Ngariyan Ching where she was blindfolded, and her hands tied at the back. She was then asked to give her femininity to satisfy them or else her body would be chopped into pieces, to which she replied she had rather died.

Enraged with her response, the kidnappers started hitting her on the head leaving her unconscious.

She was raped according to her medical report and mentally assaulted.

“When I came back to consciousness at twilight, I could hear the clicking and loading of guns and heard them talking among themselves saying that I had to be shot dead”, narrated the girl.

She continued that knowing that I would be killed, I had requested them to untie my hands as I wanted to urinate, to which they did so and I took advantage of it, without any thought, I rolled down the hill and drifted around by a roadside.

From there, according to the girl, an auto passing by gave her a lift and the kind auto driver dropped the girl at a place where she was picked up by another person who helped her reach New Lambulane where the volunteers took her to a house where she was given first aid using painkillers and ice-pack for two consecutive days on May 16 and 17.

Then, on the next day, with lots of difficulties, the girl was moved to Kangpokpi District Headquarters where for the first time she was taken to hospital.

In the midst of inhumane actions happening around the state, humanity does still exist through a good Samaritan who donated for the cause of the girl’s medical care and expenses with which she was ably taken for proper treatments in different hospitals in the neighboring state, Nagaland.

Speaking to the media, a woman who looks after the girl said that democracy and its fundamental rights are a privilege the constitution provides every Indian citizen, but now, these rights seem only enjoyed by a particular community in the current Manipur situation.

She also recalled that when I was a child, I had high regard for a particular community of Manipur for the respect they have for their elders and the love and care they showered their womenfolk, especially their sisters with, but in today’s generation, the progression in human knowledge reaches the extreme of selfishness and ego-centrism that “love and care” had turned into hatred and jealousy sparing not a teenage girl from being physically and mentally assaulted.
