Ccpur: District Administration provides Food, Medicines to 105 relief centres, New Sale Point for OMSS Rice opened

Amid the turmoil in Manipur, relief goods were extended to displaced people who are taking shelter at the 105 various relief centres managed by various philanthropic organizations in Churachandpur district. A new sale point for OMSS rice in the district was opened today at S. Kawtlian Village taking the total of such sales points to four.

Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, Additional DCs Khaikhopau Ngaihte and Jameson Hangsing opened the OMSS rice sale point today at S Kawtlian.

Other sales points are Mini-Secretariat Complex, Tuibong; ADCC Town Office, Hiangtam Lamka and Lamka South BDO Office, Khominthang. Rice is being distributed at the rate of Rs. 32 per kg to the public. Each household is entitled 5 kgs of rice per day under the scheme. Till date, 7490 kgs of rice were sold to the public through OMSS.

The district administration stated in a release that it provided food, water, and health and sanitation facilities to the inmates through the philanthropic organizations. Medicines and medical services were provided through the chief medical officer, while drinking water and sanitation are being provided through PHED.

On Friday, the district administration distributed 632 Rice bags, 108 bags of Potato, 100 bags of Dal, 98 bags of Matar, 78 bags of Onion, 30 bags of Pumpkin, 100 bags of Chilli, 127 tins of edible oil, 690 numbers of sanitary pads, 690 pieces of diapers, 196 packets of Nestogen, and 240 Mosquito repellent coils. These materials were handed over to philanthropic organizations who are managing the relief camps.

Besides, district officials such as deputy commissioner Dharun Kumar S, IAS; district nodal officer (Relief Camp) Mannuamching; cluster officers, assistant cluster officers, SDOs also visited various relief camps since the past few days as a trust building measure. The officials also dined together with the inmates. Besides, the District Administration handed over sports and recreational items to children at various relief centres.
