Cell phones of two missing Meitei youth intentionally dropped at Senapati to drag Nagas, says Naga Peoples' Organisation

By THJ Desk — On November 6, 2023

The Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO) Tahamzam, Senapati, has said the Naga apex body was extremely annoyed by the dastardly act of some miscreants who intentionally dropped the cell phones of the two missing Meitei youths - Anvish Maibam (16 yrs) and Ningthoujam Anthony (19 yrs) at Senapati District HQ.

In a statement issued on Monday, NPO said: "This deceitful act is intended to drag the Nagas and flare up misunderstandings between different communities.” It sternly reminded the warring communities to refrain from dragging the Nagas into the conflict.

NPO stated that the the two youths went missing on the 5th of November and were suspected to be kidnapped by unknown miscreants. Nagas of Senapati has been constantly nurturing neutrality but unscrupulous miscreants tend to scapegoat those not involved and as such the diabolic ploy to mislead the public is outrightly condemned by the NPO, it said.

The organisation stated that it would not leave any stones un-turn to find out the culprit and befitting punishment be meted out.

The NPO also asserted that it upheld the standing resolution No. 2 on May 5, 2023 of the joint meeting of the Tribe Hohos and the Executives of NPO, that "no Meitei or Kuki should create any problem in Senapati District," and reiterated it would continue to extend logistical support to both the Meitei and Kuki who are stranded.
