The 1st Colonel Viplav Tripathi Memorial Football Tournament 2025 began on Saturday at the Tuibong Peace Ground in Churachandpur District, attracting both men's and women's teams from across the region.
The tournament, organized by 37 Assam Rifles Khuga, serves as a tribute to Colonel Viplav Tripathi and the soldiers who lost their lives in a counter-insurgency operation near Sehken village along the Indo-Myanmar border in November 2021.
In the opening match, Buallian Takchapa triumphed over Lawmvual FC with a dominant 5-1 victory. The second match of the day saw New Lamka Youth Club and VENUS (Vengnuam) fail to score, resulting in a goalless draw.
Later, FC Murvarte Singngat delivered another 5-1 victory against Lawmvual FC, while Full Time Football Academy secured a 2-0 win over New Lamka Youth Club.
The tournament features eight men's teams divided into two groups and six women's teams split into two groups, all competing for top honors.
This football competition is a heartfelt commemoration of the sacrifices made by Colonel Tripathi and the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation’s security.
