In keeping with its proud traditions of honouring supreme sacrifice and bravery, the 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today observed Valour Day (Shaurya Diwas) 2025 with deep reverence and patriotic fervour at its Kangpokpi base in Manipur.

The day began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Shaheed Samarak, where Commandant Sh. Ranjan Kumar Baruah, accompanied by officers and personnel of the battalion, paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The homage reflected the battalion’s enduring commitment to remember and honour its fallen heroes.

A Sainik Sammelan was also organized on the occasion. During the event, Commandant Baruah honoured officers and jawans who had been conferred with the Police Medal for Gallantry, applauding their fearless acts and emphasizing that they would always hold a place of honour within the force. He further encouraged operationally distinguished personnel by awarding them Certificates of Appreciation, acknowledging their commendable performance in critical missions.

Commandant Baruah, in his address, invoked the bravery of the past and reminded the gathering of the legacy they are entrusted to uphold. "Remembering our valiant comrades who have brought pride to the nation and to the CRPF, we pledge to carry this legacy forward with unwavering commitment and courage," he said.

All personnel present reaffirmed their dedication to duty, taking a collective pledge to serve the nation with honesty, fearlessness, and impartiality.

Valour Day is observed annually on April 9th to commemorate the legendary battle at Sardar Post and Tonk Post in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, in 1965. On this day, four companies of the 2nd Battalion, CRPF, displayed extraordinary bravery in the face of a full-scale attack by the Pakistan Army. The valiant CRPF troops not only repelled the assault but inflicted heavy casualties—neutralizing 34 enemy soldiers and capturing four. Six CRPF personnel made the ultimate sacrifice in the battle, etching their names in the annals of Indian history.
