Governor Visits ICP Moreh to Review Operations and Infrastructural Development

Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Manipur, visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Moreh today to assess its operations and infrastructure. ICP Moreh, located on the Indo-Myanmar border, plays a crucial role in cross-border trade and is a key component of India's "Act East Policy," aimed at strengthening ties with Southeast Asian nations.

During his visit, Governor Acharya received a comprehensive briefing from the ICP Manager and other officials about the post's operations and strategic significance. The Governor inspected various facilities and engaged with officials to discuss the challenges of maintaining security and enhancing trade in the region.

Governor Acharya directed the authorities to expedite pending projects, including the Bypass road and the construction of the Border Guarding Force (BGF) infrastructure at the ICP Moreh campus.

In a related development, Major General Ravroop Singh, SM, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), visited ICP Moreh yesterday. He met with key stakeholders, including representatives from BGF and Customs, to discuss the prospects of resuming normal trade activities between India and Myanmar.

General Singh was presented with a traditional Tribal muffler and received a briefing on the functions of the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI) as the custodian of ICP Moreh. He also left a note in the Visitors' Book, underscoring the importance of facilitating trade and security at this critical border post.

Shri Aditya Mishra, Chairman, Land Ports Authority of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India also visited ICP Moreh yesterday.

During his visit at ICP Moreh, an engagement session was held with various Stakeholders like Land Customs, Bureau of Immigration, BGF (Assam Rifles), BSF and State Police.

The Chairman was accompanied by K. Khabib, IPS, IGP, Manipur, Rahul Gupta, IPS, SP Tengnoupal, Sushil Kumar, 2iC, Adhoc MNC 13 BSF, and other senior Officers from District Administration, Assam Rifles and BSF.

Manager, ICP Moreh has also accompanied the Chairman at the BGF Accommodation construction site for inspection.

Aditya Mishra is an IPS officer of 1989 batch of UP Cadre. He has been working as a Chairman,
Land Ports Authority of India since December, 2019. Before joining LPAI, he has served as a
police officer in Uttar Pradesh and also in BSF and SSB with the Government of India. He holds a Master's degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.
