The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) Assam Hills, Joint Headquarters and Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Assam, have denied the allegations in social media that the Kuki and Hmar Tribes of Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam, were inspecting and looking for Meitei community who were travelling by train from Guwahati to Silchar.
The HSA and KSO strongly condemned the spreading of such fake news and false information which defame the whole Hmar and Kuki community of Dima Hasao District.
In a joint press statement on Wednesday, the students' bodies alleged that while each and everyone, public leaders and administrators at national and at all level are burning their sweats, time and energy in searching for ways to deescalate the immense damage cause by the ongoing unrest and turmoil to the humanity in general and the State of Manipur in particular, some people from the Meitei community in Assam always act in a distasteful behaviour.
"The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) Assam Hills, Joint Headquarters and Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Assam, came to learn that one such provocation has again surfaced, spreading fake news and defaming Kuki and Hmar Community of Assam by a person named Bishal Khaidem in his Facebook Post that Kuki and Hmar Tribes of Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam are inspecting and looking for Meitei community who were travelling by train from Guwahati to Silchar," HSA and KSO said.
The statement stated that inspite of serious provocations on several occasions by issuing press release by some groups, the student bodies, instead of reacting to such kind of mischievious and immature behaviour, have always maintained restrain and left to the discretion of the authority of the State of Assam.
The said social media post had been doing round in social media platforms which creates panic and anxiety among the public. However, immediate action had been taken by Dima Hasao Police and they already clarified the said Facebook post as fake.
The HSA and KSO appealed to all, irrespective of communities, to work hard and try their best to prevent the spreading of such vicious news which have potential to disrupt peace and tranquility in the region.
