The Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh, organized a large-scale cleanliness drive titled "Clean Moreh", aimed at rejuvenating and preserving the health of the Luipi-Twinom and Kaikong Dung rivers and their surrounding areas on Wednesday.
Following the drive, the HTC issued a press release earnestly appealing to all citizens to refrain from polluting the river and to use this vital water resource responsibly.
HTC stated that the Luipi-Twinom and Kaikong Dung rivers—vital lifelines flowing through the heart of Moreh—support the livelihoods and well-being of nearby communities.
Recognizing the importance of the rivers, HTC mobilized its subordinate units, the Moreh Youth Club, Kuki Women’s Union & Human Rights Moreh Block, Kuki Students' Organisation Moreh Block, Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi Moreh Block, volunteers, and local residents to actively participate in the cleanup initiative, the release stated.
The release also mentioned that the drive focused on clearing waste and debris from the rivers and their banks, restoring the natural flow of water, and raising public awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
“Clean surroundings contribute to a healthy community, and collective responsibility is key to preserving our natural heritage,” the HTC stated.
The council urged everyone to come together to keep Moreh clean and protect the Luipi-Twinom and Kaikong Dung rivers for future generations.
