The Inspector General of Police, L/O, IK Muivah has appealed to the farmers not to venture out at the paddy-fields all by themselves without informing the police, while cautioning that it could be risky for them.
Muivah appealed to the public that they should meet with their respective Superintendent of Police (SP) and informed him/her about the requirement.
Briefing to the media at Imphal on Saturday, Muivah said the police department is arranging security specifically for facilitating agricultural activities in various affected hill districts during this season. The government has reduced securities from various VIPs and have gathered them and alloted to various affected districts, he said.
Stating that the security arrangement for the farmers has been done under the guidance of the chief minister, Muivah informed that 822 personnel for Imphal West, 298 for Imphal East, 236 for Bishnupur district, 147 for Thoubal, 204 for Kakching, 300 for Churachandpur and 200 for Kangpokpi districts will be deployed under the respective Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) in consultation with the agriculture department and also with the local populace and farmers to see which area needs security requirements.
