The indefinite economic blockade imposed by the Kuki Zo CSOs of Jiribam, and Tamenglong along NH 37 has been called off after a memorandum of understanding signed with representatives of Tamenglong Police, Assam Rifles and CRPF on Friday.
As per the agreements, the concerned district police of Tamenglong/Jiribam and other Security Forces deployed in both the district will ensure safety and movement of essential commodities and commercial vehicles to Kuki-Zo communities of Jiribam and Tamenglong including medical facilities etc.
It was also agreed that the concerned district police shall make all necessary efforts to book and punish as per law the culprits involved in abduction of Langgel Muangpu S/o Langgel Luaial of Vengnom, Dibongkhunou, Jiribam.
The CSOs and the officials also agreed for a joint Naka Check point near Phaitoul village for deployment of both Central and State Forces and that concerned district police of Jiribam and Tamenglong and central forces should ensure strict action against any radical elements and miscreants engaged in intimidation of public and commercial business.
