Leaders of INDIA Bloc, a conglomerate of like-minded political parties in Manipur, have submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, requesting her for immediate deployment of adequate security personnel in Jiribam following new incidents in few villages of the district.

Representatives of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Janata Dal(United), All India Forward Bloc, Nationalist Congress Party(SP), All India Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena(UBT), Revolutionary Socialist Party, Communist party of India and Aam Admi Party from the Indian Bloc went to Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and met the governor on Thursday, wherein they also submitted the memorandum with certain demands.

In the memorandum, the political parties requested the governor to immediately deploy state security personnel at villages in Jiribam district from where villagers have fled for fear of attack and loss of lives so that they return to their original homes from the relief camps.

They also requested that similar arrangements may be made for other district headquarters in Churachandpur, Imphal, Kangpokpi and Moreh.

The political parties also requested that the government should provide adequate escort for the movement of passenger vehicles, goods-laden trucks and oil tankers carrying essential commodities on NH-37 and NH-2 to ensure uninterrupted flow of goods towards Imphal.

The memorandum stated that both the Union and State Government of Manipur should immediately take necessary action to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

The like-minded political parties also conveyed their disappointment and unhappiness with the protracted crisis and conflict which has been going on since the 3rd May in 2023.

The memorandum further stated that the audacious acts of attacking on advance escort security forces of chief minister on their way to Jiriribam at Kotlen in Kangpokpi district  should be taken as serious challenge to the authority of the state and demanded that the miscreants should be brought to justice.
