The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Monday distributed various relief materials during their visit to different relief centres in the strife-torn Churachandpur district, Manipur.
Speaking to the media persons at one of the relief centres, the Indian Youth Congress Manipur in-charge, Ms. Sarifa Rahman, blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the burning in Manipur, while alleging that the present crisis in the Manipur was created by the present regime.
Sarifa said the Northeast as a whole has never been so restless and Manipur was never like this before. But now, there is an infighting among the people living in the State.
Sarifa alleged that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, have never took care of the State, and have not taken a single step to solve the problem between the indigenous people in Manipur.
The youth congress in-charge said, “The entire violence is created by the government especially the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh. I don’t know why they are not imposing President's Rule here and instead, making the people to suffer.”
Sarifa said she was also disheartened to see the homeless children and women during her visit to the relief camps. The media is also not highlighting enough of the situation in Manipur, and the mainland Indians are not aware of the actual situation in Manipur since the internet has also been banned, she added.
She also questioned why the state government had to ban the internet rather than making the situation more normal. The Prime Minister need apologize to the people of Manipur for the crisis created in Manipur. However, he did not even have the guts to speak a single line over the issue during his Maan Ki Baat, she said.
Sarifa said she was happy to know how the people of Manipur have reacted to the recent Maan Ki Baat of the Prime Minister. Further, she said that she was visiting the State to know the actual situation and that she would convey whatever is happening in the State to the Congress headquarter in New Delhi.
