The Indian Youth Congress (IYC), the youth wing of the Indian National Congress, continued its membership drive initiative today in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district, following its inaugural event at the MPCC Office in Imphal on October 21.

The launching event in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District today was held at LNC Hotel, Kangpokpi district HQ.

It was attended by prominent leaders including Sarifa Rahman, General Secretary and Manipur In-charge of IYC; Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip, PCC Member and Vice President of MPCC; Simanchal Khandani and Prakash Kumar of Z.R.O IYC; as well as local leaders T. Samuel Haokip, Jangminthang Kipgen, and Neinu Kipgen, District Mahila Congress President. The event was supported by various Block Congress office bearers from three Assembly constituencies in Sadar Hills and a large gathering of youth from the district.

The membership drive aims to engage youth, particularly from Kangpokpi, to join the IYC and participate at the grassroots level in building both society and the nation.

Dr. Lamtinthang Haokip congratulated the newly appointed IYC President, Uday Bhanu Chib, and expressed gratitude to the outgoing President, Srinivas Ji, known as the "Oxygen Man," for his significant contributions to the party. He urged the local youth to actively take part in the IYC’s initiative, which seeks to bring positive changes in society.

Sarifa Rahman outlined the enrollment process and encouraged participants to join IYC, emphasizing the vision of Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Inclusive India,’ where everyone is equally represented and respected. She highlighted that the IYC is the only political organization in India to hold internal elections, which marks a historic moment for Indian politics. This step, she noted, aligns with the vision of Rahul Gandhi and the guidance of AICC President Kharge.

Elections for Youth Congress leadership positions at the Assembly, District, and State levels will be held in Manipur. The IYC’s goal is to build a strong grassroots organization in every corner of the state. The nomination drive will run from October 23 to 27, 2024, after which the membership process will begin, with detailed information available at www.ycea.in.

The IYC invites young individuals committed to working with integrity for the people of India to contact the election team. Orientation and training sessions will be held to inform potential candidates about the election process and how to become an elected leader in their area. This unique opportunity offers a clear and transparent path for youth leaders to serve their communities and the nation, while also aspiring to high political office.
