A successful joint operation conducted by the 37 Assam Rifles Khuga Battalion and Churachandpur district police has resulted in the arrest of two individuals allegedly involved in an arms deal near Lamjang village, Manipur. The operation, which began at 6:00 PM on December 19, led to the apprehension of Jangneu Haokip and Lilin Haokip, both residents of Koite village.
During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered several weapons and items, including a 9mm Carbine Machine Gun 1A1 (registration number 16024488), a suspected looted police weapon, a country-made pistol with a magazine, 118 rounds of 315 bore rifle ammunition, five rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, and a white Toyota Glanza car (registration number MN 01 AG 4416). In addition, two mobile phones, a Redmi A1 and an Oppo phone, were seized.
The arrested individuals have been booked at the Churachandpur police station under Sections 25(1-C) of the Arms Act and 3(5) of the BNS Act. Authorities confirmed that the accused will be presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Churachandpur today for a hearing to request police custody for further investigation.
