The local civil bodies of Kangpokpi District Headquarters condemned the thievery in the Manipur State Cooperative Bank Kangpokpi Branch on July 11 in the strongest term.

Miscreants have reportedly stolen six computer sets along with a few other electronic gadgets including one printer and a hard drive of the Manipur State Cooperative Bank Kangpokpi Branch CCTV camera.

The Manipur State Cooperative Bank Kangpokpi Branch is located in downtown IT. Road Bazar, Ward No.17 in Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

Following the Bank Branch Deputy Manager's complaint lodged at Kangpokpi Police Station, a case was registered at the police station and an investigation has already been initiated, as per police source.

A complaint lodged to the Officer-in-Charge of Kangpokpi Police Station by the Deputy Manager of the MSCB Kangpokpi Branch, Ngaoni Dovei said that the bank was closed since May 4 because of the prevailing situation in the state.

He continued that on July 11 at around 11:30 am, when he along with two of his staff opened the bank to provide services to its customers for the first after more than two months of its closure, found that the office was vandalized and the electronic gadgets were stolen causing huge loss to the branch.

He also stated in the complaint that the cash vault was also found broken, but no cash was looted as the branch had already taken out all the cash from it as well as from the ATM in the middle week of May as instructed by the head office.

It is worth mentioning that the Manipur State Cooperative Bank Kangpokpi Branch had a history of money swindling by its own staff earlier in the past.

In connection with the thievery in the MSCB Kangpokpi Branch, members of the Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Youth Union, and the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization had a spot inspection this afternoon and also met with the Officer-in-Charge of the Kangpokpi Police Station.

Lalkholen Kipgen, Joint Secretary of Kangpokpi Town Committee said that the thievery incident in the MSCB Kangpokpi Branch is very unfortunate and the local bodies condemned such an incident in the strongest term.

He also said that since a case had already been registered at Kangpokpi Police Station, the local bodies will be extending maximum cooperation and support to the police to nab the culprits involved in the thievery at the earliest.

The Kangpokpi Town Committee also had a serious meeting over the incident at its office in the town after a spot inspection of the bank, where they have also decided to meet with the bank's officials and staff at the earliest.
