KPA calls for all Manipur tribals unity, supports Kuki CSOs decision for 'No Black Day' observance

The Kuki People Alliance (KPA), a regional political party from Manipur, has appealed to the Naga communities of the State for an all Manipur tribals unity towards the call for a separate administration.

In a statement issued on Monday, the KPA declared that it accepts and supports the decision of the Kuki chiefs and civil societies of Kangpokpi District on 5th of September to refrain from displaying of black flags and donning black attires on the solemn occasion of the Sahnit Ni, the long-observed Kuki's Black Day, on September 13, and to instead observe the coming day as a "Prayer Day for Peace".

KPA stated that such declaration by the Kuki chiefs and civil bodies is a conciliatory gesture to bury the hatchet and to bury the past while adding that it is a positive move for future peace and development.

"The decision is a reach-out to the Naga community, who have been ever helpful both in kind and social support during the ensuing Meitei assault on the Kuki, with a clear message that we can build our future together in mutual respect, mutual trust and cooperation," KPA said.
