The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal (KIT) has expressed its strong dissatisfaction and condemnation against the filing of FIR against the General Secretary of Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF), Muan Tombing, on November 18 by Churachandpur Police Station OC N Thangzamuan who himself is a Kuki-Zo.
"When the state of Manipur is systematically carrying out with its ethnic cleansing bloodshed on the Kuki-Zo tribes, it is deeply painful and horrifying on the part of the Indian government rigidly supporting N Biren Singh led Taliban style government of Manipur merely for the sake of politics, allowing the sons and daughters of the Kuki-Zo bravehearts who led and fought alongside Netaji against the British colonial power and played a pivotal role in the national freedom movement to be tortured, raped and beheaded publicly," KIT said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Kaikholal Haokip, Media and Publicity of Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal, said the words expressed by Muan Tombing was neither his mere opinion nor ITLF's but the voice of the suppressed Kuki-Zo Indians. "It is the voice of those who are desperately longing for equality, human rights, and self determination seeking a piece of justice within the purview of Indian Constitution which they have been deliberately deprived of after 76 years of the so called INDIA'S INPEPENDENCE," he said.
