The Kuki Inpi Tengnoupal (KIT), an apex body of Kukis in the district, has clarified that various media reports on India's border town of Moreh in Manipur as a heaven for Kuki militants were "false and concocted, intentionally to defame the Kuki-Zo community living in Moreh and Tengnoupal as a whole.

The Kuki apex body condemned the media report of Imphal Times evening newspaper dated 22 October, 2023 under the title - "India border town Moreh is a heaven for armed Kuki Militants from both India and Myanmar" and other similar reports on national media houses, which it said is absurd and bereft of facts in ground reality.

In its press release on Tuesday, KIT said that on verification of the above alleged media report it came to light that no general diary report or FIR had been registered by the Moreh Police in connection with the alleged matter as being reported in the media houses.

Therefore, KIT said, all the contents of the alleged media reports are pieces of fake propaganda of the majority Meitei community as an excuse to bring more State forces like Meitei police commando and other State forces, who are under the disposal of the state machinery, in order to genocide the Kuki-Zo tribal of Tengnoupal district.
