Kuki-Zo Council Announces Total Shutdown to Honor 11 Victims Killed by CRPF in Jiribam

In a solemn response to the tragic loss of 11 Kuki-Zo Village Volunteers at the hands of CRPF personnel in Jiribam today, the Kuki-Zo Council has called for a Total Shutdown tomorrow, from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This shutdown is aimed at honoring the victims and expressing collective grief, solidarity, and a demand for justice.

The tragic incident, which has left the Kuki-Zo community in mourning, saw the victims brutally shot dead by CRPF personnel under circumstances that remain under investigation. The Kuki-Zo Council has condemned the violence in the strongest terms and has called for an immediate and thorough investigation to bring the responsible individuals to justice.

"The loss of these precious lives is not just a personal tragedy for the families involved, but a devastating blow to the entire Kuki-Zo community," the Council stated in a public release. "We stand united in our pursuit of peace, justice, and security, and we demand accountability for this heinous act."

During the shutdown, essential services will remain operational. Medical personnel, ambulances, media, and essential services like electricity and water supply will be exempted from the restrictions to ensure the well-being of the community.

The Kuki-Zo Council has extended its deepest condolences to the grieving families and called on the community to unite in mourning. "Let us come together, not in anger, but in solidarity, as we seek justice for those we have lost," the statement concluded.

The call for the shutdown has garnered support from various Kuki-Zo bodies, including the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), KSO Moreh, KSO Churachandpur, ZSF-GHQ, and HAS Tuithaphai JHQ, who have all expressed their commitment to standing with the victims' families and the broader Kuki-Zo community during this difficult time.
