On October 26, 2024, the Kuki community in the United States gathered at Point Church to celebrate Chavang Kut, the vibrant post-harvest festival. This year's theme, “Celebration of Brotherhood,” set the stage for a lively event filled with cultural dances and musical performances from various artists.
The celebration was graced by Jammang Haokip, the former president of Kuki Inpi USA, who attended as the esteemed ‘Kut Pa.’ The festivities highlighted the rich traditions of the Kuki people, fostering a spirit of unity and cultural pride.
Following the festival, a general election for the Kuki Inpi leadership for the term 2024-2026 was conducted. Thangjalun was elected as president, with Doupu Haokip and Clay Kipgen serving as vice-president and general secretary, respectively.
Additional leadership positions filled included Mangthang Haokip as Joint Secretary, Khaiminlen Doungel as Information Secretary, and Lily Nengboi as Treasurer. Moses Lenthang and Dr. Seiboi Touthang were nominated as Advisors.
The election also saw the appointment of Ruati Boungpui, Chingboi Touthang, and Vanessa Vaiphei as women representatives, ensuring diverse representation within the community.
The event not only celebrated the Kukis' rich cultural heritage but also marked a new chapter in leadership for Kuki Inpi USA, as the community continues to strengthen its bonds and traditions in the diaspora.
