Manipur Crisis: All stakeholders will be consulted before any arrangement in Manipur, says Naga MLAs

The members of Manipur Legislative Assembly from Naga community, have made their stand to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, that the Naga areas should not be touch in the event of any arrangement made for separate administration in Manipur.

10 Naga MLAs from Manipur met Amit Shah at Delhi on June 6 evening to discuss the prevailing situation in Manipur. After their return, the Naga MLAs briefed to the media at Dimapur on Friday.

Speaking to the media, Water Resource Minister of Manipur, Awangbow said, "We conveyed and made it clear to the Home Minister that in the even of any arrangement for separate administration, our Naga areas should not be touch."

Awangbow said the MLAs also told Amit Shah that the Nagas should be consulted properly before any arrangement is made in order to avoid further escalation  of the situation.

They also told Amit Shah that any arrangement for the Nagas should come as per peace process that is going on between NSCN IM and the Government of India, said the Minister.

Awangbow said the Home Minister conveyed the MLAs very clearly that  in the event of any plan for arrangement of separate administration and whatsoever, major communities in Manipur, i,e Meitei, Naga and Kukis would be properly consulted to bring the situation under control and that peace is restored  again.

The minister also said that Amit Shah was concern about the sentiment of the people and that things could not be done in a rush.

Awangbow said it is very historic that after so many years, Naga MLAs have come together to solve problems of the State and region. As invited by Amit Shah, they met him on  on June 6 evening in Delhi and had a meaningful discussion on present situation in ManipurThe NPF MLA also appreciated the Union Home Minister for his prompt action to bring Manipur situation under control.

He further said the Naga MLAs are trying their best to bring both communities into an understanding and if possible to negotiate with one another to bring the situation into normalcy again. They are doing the best at their level and that they are showing their concern about how things are becoming worst during the last many days in Manipur

In further interaction and response to media queries, the minister said Nagas are peace loving people and they never start any war.

Awangbow further said Naga MLAs do not want their friends and neighbors to engage in war.
