After the multitude of attacks still being carried out on the Kuki Villages in different
parts of Sugnu and Kangpokpi, the Kuki womenfolk in Delhi on June 7, out of genuine concern, protested in front of the Union Home Minister’s residence in New Delhi seeking for immediate intervention.

Out of the protesters, only four were allowed to enter the premises for an exchange of dialogue. The rest of the people were transported to Jantar Mantar to continue the peaceful protest. They shouted slogans demanding for the urgent need of ‘President Rule’ and against the Chief Minister of Manipur, Biren Singh and his government, they also pleaded to the Central Forces to save them.

The placards raised consisted of “Article 356 not Article 355” and “Amit Shah Ji, you
promised us peace, but where is the peace?”

One protestor said, "Despite his assurance that peace will be restored, attacks on our community have continued in Manipur. Lives are at stake here. Only the Home Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi can help us."

Since the visit of Shri Amit Shah the situation in Manipur has completely deteriorated. There has been a greater amount of destruction, with more than 50 villages torched down and a few number of casualties.
