Demanding fair intervention on the ongoing alleged ethnic cleansing in the state of Manipur, perpetrated by the majority Meitei Community against the minority Kuki-Zo community, thousands of tribal women belonging to the Kuki-Zo community staged sit-in-protest at the National Capital, Delhi on Monday.
The protest organized by All Manipur Kuki - Zomi Tribal Women, Delhi & NCR was held at Jantar Mantar, today. Tribal women from all walks of life in the national capital congregated at the Jantar Mantar shouting various slogans against the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led Manipur government. The protesters also proclaimed their distrust in the Manipur state government while announcing their faith in the central government to bring justice to the oppressed Kuki people in Manipur.
The Kuki-Zo tribal women attired in black dresses also hold mass prayer for their people back in Manipur. Many Kuki women who fled their home state, fearing persecution, also participated in the protest rally, thus sharing their personal stories of sufferings and losses. The womenfolk holds placards and banners that read – “United against tyranny: Limit State Power,” “Remove all Meiteis Officers commanding the Army or Para Forces” and “Reclaim Democracy, Reject Genocide” etc. While demanding immediate imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, the protesters demanded for total separation from the Meiteis.

The protesters also condemned the accusation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh against the village volunteers who were guarding the respective villages as Terrorists.
