Even while the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah was visiting the Hill tribes at Lamka (Churachandpur), the Meitei extremists- Arambai Tenggol, Meitei Leepun, and selected Manipur Police Commandos, continues their heinous genocidal rampage.
Their latest target is the peaceful Nongdam Kuki Village and many others, located near Maphou Dam, approximately 35 kilometers from Imphal, under Kangpokpi district.
The attack started at around 1:30 PM IST burnt down the village and proceeded towards the next Kuki Zo village.
As many as 10 Kuki villages under Island sub division in Kangpokpi district were attacked and burnt down. The burned down villages are Beulahlane (29 May), S. Bongjang (29 May), Saichang (30 May), L. Songphel (30 May), Kamusaichang (30 May), Nongdam kuki (30 May), Maphou Kuki (30 May), Molnom (30 May), Molkon (30 May) and Chaningpokpi (30 May).
It is reportedly the villagers of these villages are attacked and their houses burnt under the nose of the central security forces deployed for protection.
The media cell of The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF), in its statement issued on Tuesday, stated that it took the incident with great concern on ongoing pogrom and
destruction.
"The actions of these separatists are not only illegal but also morally reprehensible. The innocent lives lost and the damage inflicted on the community are unacceptable," ITLF stated.
Tribal leaders urged the concern authorities to take swift and decisive action to bring
an end to such ethnic cleansing of Kuki Zo people and ensure their safety and security.
