Fresh arson of burning houses and villages followed by a fierce gun firing attack still continued over the last 72 hours on the Kuki-Zo community by the Meiteis' radical groups such as Meitei Leepun, Arambai Tenggol, allegedly in cohort with the State machinery.

In the late night of 25th May till the next morning, the Meitei Leepun and Arambai Tenggol with the Police Commandos attacked various places bordering Churachandpur and Bishnupur district areas and burnt down three villages belonging to Kuki-Zo community, viz, P. Gelmol, Ujungmakhong and Phoisanbung.

In retaliation with the constant attack on the Kukis, the Tribal village volunteers also reportedly burnt down several houses belonging to the Meitei community in areas adjoining to the Kuki areas.

According to reports, the gun battle between the two warring sides lasted for hours and inflicted human casualties. From reliable sources received by the THJ, at least 2 persons from Meiteis community died during the gun battle and several injuries. There was no report of human casualty from the Kuki side.

Last night till this morning, the attack on Kuki villages continued at Kulbung Village areas under Churachandpur district, and the gun firing lasted for hours. The Tribal volunteers bravely defended the villages and there was no report of casualties.

Today evening at around 4PM, the alleged State sponsored Meiteis radical groups- Meitei Leepun and Arambai Tenggol again attacked Pholjang village areas near Kwakta and gun firing occurred between the two waring communities. So far three sustained injuries in the melee. Violence is still ongoing till the filling of this report.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai and Central BJP Spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra visited the violent hit districts of Churachndpur and Kangpokpi districts today.

As per the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) Media Cell, the visiting Central Team failed to meet the tribal leaders. MoS Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Dr. Sambit Patra made the tribal leaders wait at Lamka for more than 3 hours and also changed the venue from 27 Sector AR to DC office in the last minute. The duo reportedly gave only 15 minutes for the meeting, to which the tribal leaders took it as a disrespect and left without meeting the MoS and BJP Spokesperson.

It is said that fresh meeting has been promised by the Minister for about three hours tomorrow.
