The Meitei Leepun has strongly condemned the baseless allegations made by Th. Brinda, a former police officer; and Babloo Loitongbam, human rights activist, in the national media, allegedly levelling Leepun as a militant group responsible for the current crisis in Manipur.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Meitei Leepun on Monday has sought immediate clarifications from the two individuals regarding their alleged unsubstantiated claims.

Regarding a recent support of the two Meitei individuals voiced by a Meitei senior political leader, Nimaichand Luwang, the Meeitei Leepun has cautioned Luwang for engaging in petty politics and tarnishing the Leepun's name without proper justification.

"Nimaichand Luwang is hereby warned to refrain from baseless involvement in the future. Otherwise, Leepun will not remain mere spectators to the tarnishing of its image. Failure to heed this warning may result in irreparable damage to his seniority and reputation within the society," said Meitei Leepun.

The statement stated that Meitei Leepun is a mass movement that believes in strengthening the Meitei and uplifting the idea of oneness in Manipur. "We remain committed to truth, justice, and maintaining our honourable standing in the community," it added.
