Various Civil Society Organisations have condemned the shocking murder of a nine-year-old girl in Churachandpur district in the early hours of Friday.  The minor was found dead at a relief camp, Lanva TD block, Lingsiphai.

After she was reported missing from the camp on the evening of March 20, her family started searching for her, as per officials. Her body was found in the relief camp compound later in the night.

It is suspected that she was raped, they said, adding that the body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination. Reports also suggest that an injury mark was found on the child's neck and bloodstains were discovered at the murder site.

In a statement, the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) strongly condemns the horrific and Inhumane killing of Miss Mandehikim d/o Niangsenkhup, a juvenile from Lingsiphai Village, who was brutally murdered on the evening of March 20, 2025.

According to KWOHR, Mandeihkim went missing around 06:00 pm when she failed to return home. Her worried parents initiated a search, only to discover her lifeless body at approximately 11:00 pm. Disturbing evidence, including an injury mark around her neck and blood stains near her body, suggests a gruesome crime.

“We demand that the authorities take immediate and decisive action to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act. The government must ensure a swift and thorough investigation to deliver justice to the grieving family and prevent such crimes from recurring in our society.”

The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights stands in solidarity with the family of Miss Mandeihkim and all victims of violence. We urge law enforcement agencies to act with urgency, transparency, and diligence in bringing the culprits to justice. We will not remain silent in the face of such brutality. Justice must prevail, it added.

Alleging that she was murdered, the Zomi Mothers’ Association has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and deliver justice to her family. They condemned the act in the strongest terms, asserting that such crimes against humanity must not be tolerated in society.
