MoS Defence Inspects IMB-102, Meets With Different CSOs

On the second day of the visit of Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS) Defence, Sanjay Seth at Kamjong District in Manipur today, he inspected the Indo-Myanmar Border pillar (IMB-102) along with the Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, Rangnamai Rang Peter (IAS); Superintendent of Police (SP), Kamjong, Ningshem Vashum; Brig. SM Sandeep Singh of Somsai Sector; and the Commanding Officer, 8^th Assam Riffle, Kamjong, Col. Sumit Acharya.  

During the inspection, he also visited the newly constructed Kamjong Higher Secondary School, newly functional District Hospital and the District Mini Secretariat which is under construction.

Thereafter, in an official conference with the CSOs of the district, the MoS received memorandums from five (5) Tangkhul Naga CSOs and three (3) Kuki CSOs.

During the meeting with the DLOs on the previous day, the officers of twenty-six (26) departments presented the status report of their respective departments via PPT slides. The officers also highlighted the issues and challenges faced by the departments.

Mention may be made that, the MoS and the DC highly acknowledged the One-Stop Centre (OSC) for its remarkable contribution to the district. The MoS also encouraged the ICDS cell of Kamjong District to render services to the maximum number of beneficiaries in the district.

Stating that if you plant a tree, you plan a life, the MoS inspired the forest department of Kamjong District to take the initiative to plant more tress in future. Also acknowledging the highest revenue of forest in the state, he added that the forest land should be reserved to conserve natural habitats and protect the resources they contain.

On a report that out of 45,616 population of the Kamjong District (based on SECC 2011), 30670 beneficiaries of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) were enrolled covering 67.23%, the MoS heartened the CAF&PD, Kamjong District to target for covering 87%; and also to ensure that the main objective of the program is fulfilled at large.

On the other hand, with regard to the challenges faced by remote areas of the district with weak network connectivity, the District Administration ensured to resolve the issues at the earliest with the help of TSPs and ISPs.

The conference with the DLOs of the district then ended with a proposal from the District Administration for a model town at K Ashang Khullen Aze (KAKA) with a strong believe that it will strengthen trade and commerce across the border villages.
