An individual was found dead under Turel Wangma bridge in Moreh early this morning. The deceased person was identified as one Seiminthang Lupheng, 22, son of Sehlel and Lhingneikim Lupheng of Canan Veng, Moreh.
The younger brother of the deceased person said that Seiminthang went out from home last night at around 8 pm. Since then, the family lost contact with him. He also informed that the deceased person has no enmity. And they came to learnt about his death this morning. He further said that he found his brother's footwear (Chappal/Sandal) at the bridge when he rushed to the spot in the morning and collected the same.
The Turelwangma bridge connects Moreh Bazar with Turelwangma Leikai, Canan Veng, Chavangphai and S Moljol village.
Cause and reason of the dead is yet to ascertain. However, as per reports culled from the spot, some blood stains were found on the bridge. Blood stains were also found on ear, hand and (old and new) bruise marks were visible on the body. And left wrist bone seems to be fractured.
The spot is about 90 metres from Moreh Bazar and around 220 metres from Moreh Police Station. A team of Moreh police retrieved the dead body.
Meanwhile, all the Kuki CSOs in Moreh held an emergency meeting and constituted a Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Dead of Seiminthang Lupheng. The JAC asked government to find out the reason and culprit behind the death of Seiminthang Lupheng, failing which the JAC would enforce bandh from 6am of April 28.
